In-School Mentoring

Discover The Power of An Hour!

The In-School Mentoring program provides students in grades 1 to 8 with a role model and a friend to talk to. For one hour a week, mentors meet with their mentee and engage in activities such as board games, crafts or just hanging out on school grounds.

A small commitment that makes a big difference.  You’ll help build a child’s self-esteem and school performance while having a lot of fun. It only takes one hour per week during the school year. Matches do not meet over the summer break or during other school holidays.

We supply everything you might need to help you and your mentee share some time together. ISM matches usually play board games, do crafts, or just hang out and talk. Sometimes they like to go outside or to the gym, so it all depends on what you and your mentee are interested in.

This program is a tremendous opportunity for anyone. The BBBS ISM School Mentoring program takes minimal commitment. It is only once per week for one hour. The schedule is flexible and allows the School Mentor to accommodate both their personal and work schedule. I love being a BBBS In School Mentor!”

“The students are so excited when they know it is “their day” to meet with their special person. A person who takes the time to talk to them and get to know them, helps them with minor problems, and makes a positive difference in their life. I have heard feedback from the parents, who have indicated they have noticed a difference in their child. Their attitude is better, they are happy to go to school and seem to do better in school, they seem to get along better with their friends and siblings and they make better choices.”
