Lake Country Co-op is collecting donations at seven locations across Prince Albert for the Big Brothers Big Sisters holiday campaign Ignite A Little Sparkle to raise money for youth mentoring programs.

“We are excited to have Lake Country Co-op as a partner in this year’s holiday campaign” says Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince Albert’s Development Coordinator, Natasha Thomson. “100% of the money raised will go towards recruiting, screening, and training new volunteers to match with children on our waiting list”.

Thomson says some of the children have been waiting since last year to be matched. “A year is a long time for a child, so we are asking the good people of Prince Albert to support our programs by signing up to volunteer or by making a donation which allows us to continue making and supporting new matches.” She says each match will meet about once a week for a minimum of one year to build a developmental relationship that helps the young person develop confidence, social skills and empowerment.

The Ignite A Little Sparkle campaign will continue until December 31 at the following participating locations in Prince Albert:

  • Lake Country Co-op Food Store
  • Lake Country Co-op Home Centre
  • Lake Country Co-op 2nd Avenue Gas Bar & Pro Tackle Shop
